I escape from the bitter cold to a haven of warmth and beautiful scents. Music is playing softly as I am greeted by name by a friendly assistant, relieved of my hat, coat and scarf, and escorted to my chair. My temples are massaged, as I sink into the chair relaxing for the first time in days.
A cup of tea appears, and I am fussed, and petted over for the next hour. I chat with the lovely Rebecca, who regales me with tales of her wedding in Bali and her honeymoon in Santorini. It brings back memories of trips overseas, to places where it was warm and sunny and completely the opposite of a cold dark Ballarat winter’s day.
Eventually I emerge, sleek and smooth into the cold, thankful for the brief escape from work and family that a trip to the hairdresser brings.
