I woke up this morning to the news that Matt Smith would be leaving Doctor Who at the end of the year in the Christmas Special.
I will be sad to see him go- not as sad as I was when David Tennant moved on (I cried buckets when THAT happened *shamefaced*), but he has been a great addition to the 50 year old TV show.
Doctor Who has always been popular in Australia Shown on the ABC regularly and on repeats, it was guaranteed an audience in our household as a) we were living in Ararat where in the 70s and early 80s all you got on TV was 2 channels and b)my parents had grown up with it.
Australia was also one of the few places where tapes of missing episodes existed in the ABC archives, after the BBC wiped them as a space-saving measure (space-saving measures are as stupid now as they were then).
3 generations of the Bookgrrl family have enjoyed Doctor Who. Master BG was a bit despondent (Matt Smith is his favourite), but was keen to know who the new one would be. His only request is that the new Doctor Who be ‘ginger’.
I’ve also posted a post for today on the Anz23mthings blog on wrapping up Week 4 (yes I have been busy!)
