St Brigid’s Cross #2013pad #happy365

It’s the feast day of St Brigid, the female patron saint of Ireland. I got this cross when we were overseas last year, and placed it over the kitchen door, so I see it all the time as a reminder of our trip!
Traditionally you make a new cross on her feast day, and place it in the house to protect it from fire. Somehow that’s quite apt for an Australian summer! It reminds me of how Irish paganism colours Catholicism, and makes me aware that spirituality remains constant, no matter what face you place upon it.
