Howitt Street is just around the corner from Miss BG’s kinder. It has your average shopping strip of bakeries, takeaway, post office, newsagent’s and supermarket, but it also has about five op shops within walking distance of each other.
I did a spot of commando shopping, hitting three of the five op shops after dropping off Miss BG on Friday. The Ballarat Bargain Browser, which has just opened up, had a fill a bag for $5 from a range of tables and racks. They had some nice clothes in there and are situated in a large store, but I didn’t have the time to peruse at great length.
The Vinnies next door yielded a dark pink boatneck which was half price at $2.
The Salvos was also a winner, with an Ojay jumper also half price at $3.50. The Wendouree Salvos is definitely more upmarket nowadays, with evening gowns in the front window!
There is also a Wozzies Warehouse which supports Child and Family Services, and the St Matthews Anglican Church op shop, but I was slightly pressed for time :).
PS I also scored a red and navy check coat for Miss BG from the Red Cross in Sturt Street, thanks to my friend Melissa who texted me. It’s too big for her now, but it will be perfect next year.
