K is for…

We stayed in the Kreuzberg neighbourhood when we went to Berlin, in the aptly-named Pension Kreuzberg. It was small, about 13 rooms and spread over two floors of an old apartment building. There was a courtyard outside our window, with a play area for local young residents.

It was a green hotel, which meant towels weren’t replaced every day and there was no TV in the room. There was free Wifi, if you had happened to bring your laptop/notebook. Seeing as we were out every night, that didn’t worry us!

I call her granny, but when I talk about her, she is Kitty. Kitty is my mum’s mum and lives in Enniskillen. She was born in a little village called Swanlinbar in 1920, in County Cavan, which is just over the border between the Republic and Northern Ireland. Of course when she was born, it was just Ireland.

Kitty could be described in many ways. Indefatiguable is one word. Well turned out is another. In the words of Kaz Cooke, she knows how to keep herself nice.
